Vera deVera is an independent consultant providing strategic thought partnership and stakeholder engagement support that helps foundations and nonprofits make better, more informed decisions. She has more than 30 years of experience in philanthropy, nonprofit governance, government and community relations, and public policy. She most recently served as the California Community Foundation’s Director of Community Building and Nonprofit Sustainability Initiatives and was the former Senior Director of the Fannie Mae Foundation’s western regional office. She is a longtime member of the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Islander Giving Circle and a Legacy Society donor to the California Community Foundation. As a native Southern Californian, she also dedicates volunteer time to nonprofits that document stories of local neighborhoods and social movements. Vera holds a B.A. in Political Science and an M.A. in Urban Planning from UCLA, and a J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law. As a Certified Professional Coach, she enjoys mentoring and coaching emerging and mid-career professionals. Most weekends she can be found at local Major League Soccer matches or serving as a volunteer tour guide in Southern California.
